With the USA hosting Rugby World Cups in 2031 and 2033, RugbyNY is working to familiarize New Yorkers with rugby, increase active participation and build a larger fan base.

Rookie Rugby is a non-contact version of the game ideal for the physical education setting for grades 3-12 featuring simple rules, low start-up costs and exceptional fitness benefits. As a simple, safe introduction to rugby, players pass and run to score, building communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills as they play this fun, fast paced game.

RugbyNY has presented Rookie Rugby at New York State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYSAHPERD) conferences in Melville, Buffalo, Troy, and Verona and on Friday, March 24th will be at conferences in Brockport and Garden City. RugbyNY has also presented Rookie Rugby in school districts throughout New York State.

Rookie Rugby is a partnership of USA Rugby, Major League Rugby and RugbyNY. RugbyNY is the USA Rugby and US Olympic and Paralympic Committee authorized governing body of youth and high school rugby in New York State.
